Hey guys, Got a 92 Sidekick 4 door. I'm a car audio guy and the 4" speakers just don't cut it in the front. I've seen a couple of pictures of people putting 6.5" speakers in the doors right above the little cubby.
Has anyone here done this, I already have the speakers. Took the door panel off and its not going to be as easy as i thought. All I need is a 5" hole for the speaker to fit into. I was thinking just getting a 5" hole saw and drilling the hole in the door with the panel on it.
Help? Ideas?
Thanks,

Drilling the hole will work just fine. One thing to do before is make sure that the magnet of the speaker won't hit the window when it is rolled down. You might want to put a foam basket behind the speaker to keep water and dirt off it as well.

I spent some money on Polks on the front 4's and they acutally don't disapoint, the 6.5s in the rear do help. I listen to everthing from Iron Maiden to Billie Holiday.

Upgrading the rear speaker to something larger will allow you to just use a quality 4" speaker up front. Up to you as to which you think is an easier install. Examples here: http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=16652.0 (http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=16652.0)

Something else I did but forgot to mention is soundproofing. Takes a full day but it is easy to do and the payoff is great. I was going to do a walkthrough on it but my camera was behaving badly that day and only got two shots. Anyway, I commute with mine so te sound proofing was really nice to do. As a bonus it really stopped all of those little drafts in the cab. Also now when I put the windows up I don't get dusted on the trails anylonger.
