Ok so while Im doing my tranny I might as well put a locker in?My question is when you go to pull the axles is there a retainer clip or something holding the axle in?And if so where is it in the diff?Thanks for the help guys..

There are 4 small nuts on the end of the axle tube (behind the backing plate) that need to be removed to get the axle and bearing out. Then you remove the brake line and e brake cable and pull on the axle shaft with a slide hammer and out it comes!

so i dont have to pull the axles right out?just enuf to clear the diff?

correct, just a few inches is all you need, mine were pretty stuborn, i ended up ditching the slide hammer and bolting some chain to 2 lugs and wrapping it around a 16 pound sledge with about a foot of slack to get them to go, hope youres is easier

that was my experience also.
you should goop the bearing cap to seal it to the backing plate.
if you pop a spring off one of your brake shoes it may be easier to get the bearing cap past the brake gear. if the backing plate loosens mabe consider regooping that also.
i used a slide hammer type arrangement. a little tough to pop the axles out.
i pulled them and replaced the outer seals(never saw any inner seals?)
the lunch box is a little weird on the road, but effective off.
