Title: seat adjusters, what is that thing?

I'm fabricating some brackets to mount seats from a eclipse in my 1986 samurai.
I noticed that the front right seat has two spring loaded plastic catches at the rear of the adjustment rails, what are these for?

Also, there are a couple of light gauge brackets and a rubber bumper welded to the seat mounting rails, what are these for?

I just thought it would be good to ask before I cut them off.
