Well I Have been thinking about it ever since I lifted My Yukon.. and just could not understand Why no one has made a kit like this.. after I started I found Jim had done this with there black tracker. I knew of it but never realized he had done it until about a week ago.

Here is some more fooling around today
Well I hacked up some steel for quick BS mounts just to get it to sit on its own.. Once that was done I now have an idea of the next stage.. So since it was siting on its own I had to mount a tire. The only one I have in the shop 38" Toyo MT

Now remember this is just screwing around but If ZI can fit a 38 on it with no body lift HMMMM you will need to trim a fender front and rear or 2" BL for this but you get the picture, a 35 will fit quite comfortable.

Notice the 5 gallon Bucket

No up travel Here LOL

Small tires and wheels still net you some clearance
(http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a102/rockfab/sidekick%20lift/IMG_1466.jpg)

How it should sit when complete ride height with no large tire

That is bad ass. I saw Jim's ride many years ago and always wondered why someone did not use a combo of his (or explorer pro-comp) design and combine it with the Calmini Control arm lift, beef up the CV's and DAMN, what a kit!!!!! Keep at it, we need a big lift like this from a reputable dealer like yourself  8)

Thanks for the compliment Zig.. I am just trying make a living doing waht I love... you know I had more fun today playing with this and just letting the phone ring so I could accomplish something.. It was great and I figured out a bunch of the little issues that may arise and already have some solutions. Saturday is Bone yard day so I will be looking for some components to compliment and give it the travel it needs.. I have a freind bringing me some 33's and I think 35's to paly with next week.

No disrespect to any of you, I really like the idea and It looks awsom.
If you are going to do all that work to the IFS then why dont you just do a solid axel swap?   I see the SAS toy swap being much easier, but what do I know.

Because not everybody has the skill to do a SAS.. This Kit will be 100% bolt-on and most will be able to do this in a weekend. The other reason is majority rule.. From what I have seen running a buisness and fabricating kits is that more people have a garage filled with basic hand tools with a mechanical apptitude but NO welding skills. I may develope a SAS kit later but it would cost alot more then this will.. There are to many variables nobody agrees on which axle or axles to use, this is straight forward out of the box bolt it in align it and go. If a sas was easier more people would already have them and from what I have seen there is only a hand full.
I am not heading you off at the pass or downing your question it is legite and there is a market for it, I feel this is a stronger product for the majority right now. Allthough this wouldnt be the first product I have made there was not the interest I thought there was going to be. tiem will tell

looks great! You need to couple this with your kickt o samurai adapter to make a kit because anything larger than a 33 witgh stock gearing sucks! and as you know there is no other gearing for a kick!

AMEN!  Even with the skill you may not have the place, but you may be able to talk a buddy into using his garage for the weekend.

X2
and this is the same problem with the solid axel swap too. now i'm a fan of the solid axel kits, but there are people out there that dont want to sacrifice the IFS for anything(like mike hagen) that will love this kit. unfortunatly those people need to understand that there is LOTS more involved than just bolting on a kit(as with any vehicle). once you put larger tires, it puts a strain on everything else. these problems such as axel strength, bearing load, differential strength, ect.... are gonna rear there ugly heads very soon, especally if there gonna wheel them.
and that right there is what took me back to the SAS!
dont get me wrong, the kit is nice, but people dont understand that there is sooooooo much more to lifting these things than slapping a lift kit and some bigger tires on(be it a calmini kit, your kit or an sas kit for all that matters)

i went SAS on mine because i wanted a 35-37" tire and no body lift... at the time, scott wasnt doing this kit, so i went with the trail tough. but BELIEVE me, this kit will be so much user friendly to install. and if i hadnt had a friend that knows welding, i would have been out of luck or stuck paying someone to install the kit for me. with scotts kit being bolt on, it will offer the weekend warrior what they are looking for, a great way to lift the trackkick for 33-35" tires WITHOUT having to install a body lift. and while there may be issues with a lifted IFS kit, i will bet that scott will offer a remedy for that too eventually...

that is the good thing about dealing with scott. he isnt gonna half |removethispart|@$$ anything...

I remembered a comment that someone was developing one. Is this the one that fits between the gearbox and tcase? Whats the latest on this project? its like the holy grail of Track/Kick modding.

Our version of the kicker 3 without the 8 month wait.
The HOLY GRAIL will be when we get the 2 Kick cases mated.

I'm hoping it takes into account those of us with existing Calmini 3+3  lifts.  What do you think about coil springs in the rear

I'm pumped - I have access to a garage and will be on the list

The drop mounts are just liek the factroy points so Bolting in a calamini Arm I dont believe will be an issue. as for the rear it is getting longer coils and links.

only issue i could see with using the calmini arms are the springs would have to be longer... or use a spacer?

any reason this wouldnt fit on a sportage when completed? I know this threads kinda old but I have been wantin to build an offroad Sportage thats different from most. I could be wrong, but isnt a sportage suspension pretty close to a trckick suspension? So what if its not a zuk, its the same basic principal with a different emblem on it.

If you are going to do all that work to the IFS then why dont you just do a solid axel swap?

IFS still has advantages in mud & snow (keeps at least 1 diff from draging), and WAY superior in sand or driving fast in back roads. I have an IFS & a SAS... each has it's advantages. 35" tires & Kicker III is going to be a FANTASTIC blend no matter if it's IFS or SAS. I like my Sidekicks way more than my Samurais. With trail spares, cooler, camping gear.. bla bla bla... there's just MUCH more room, more power etc etc etc.... The weak link has always been gearing. Now that Rockrat makes the Kicker III... we're good to go!

The new Sportages (04? and up) are vastly improved, quality-wise, over the previous, but they're car-based unibody.  The older Sportages' engineering and quality was not nearly up-to-par with "comparable" Suzukis.  I definitely don't remember any recalls for Suzukis' rear wheels coming off while driving, for example, and Kia's off-road pedigree is....um..?  To say a zuk and a Sportage are of the "same basic principle with a different emblem on it" is a bit simplistic, to say the least.

But I would like to see a built Sportage.  It might be pointless, but it'd certainly be different, which is cool.  Kinda.

I'd have to say, they are comparable throughout, but not close to the same. I doubt the kit could be made to work for an average handyman, I think there would be a lot of cutting and welding in order to tweak the measurements, and custom parts.

I think right now for the Sportage, you can get 3" body lift and 2" suspension. All similar to Trackick stuff, just coil spacers and steel tubing.

There was a Sportage in last year's Ultimate Adventure, but I think it had a solid axle swap.

The guy with the SAS Sporty sells a 4" coil lift for the Sport (rocksport).  No lockers or gear availble, limiting the KIA.

Also, Sport has upper and lower A-arms in the front, not a MacPher like Zook.

At this point I cant realy say until I have everything done, and figure all the labor for multiple sets and hardware.. I know it will be more then Calmini, how much more I am not sure.

After finding out your only 3 miles from the house.

Wonder how the lift would bolt up to my rig. Calmini 3x3 w/ OME Struts on an unmolested and unrusted 98', wit only 32 thou on the clock. Grandma's car may never look so good... :P

I live a few streets down from Burris Equipment.

Your shop is over by Master-Hitch? Is Jim Quinn's chassis works still in business over there? I used to get a lot of parts from him when I was building my drag cars and rod's. Been a couple of years... Boy, like I said, right next door and I didn't even know it.

Getting ready for this Holiday weekend, so I'll stop by next week. Thanks for your number Scott,  I'll call first. Defiantly interested in the new lift, among other things.

Checked out your website also, way cool, was looking at a roll cage... Man this is going to be bad, I already hear my dollar bills taking flight.  :)
