Hey all,
I remember a post a while back from Bob saying that TT extended sammy flares would work on a 4 door. Has anybody gotten any further proof of that? When I go with Toy axles and 35's or 37's I'm going to need some more coverage.

Big-Bad-Brian, you have some nice big flares on your 4 door, do you not? Where did you get those, and how much modification did it take to install them?
Anybody know of anywhere else?

Heather, Where did you get the Little flares? They look cool and would go nice with my black rock crawlers on the white kick...
I've been Eyeing the Brush wacker Jeep Cherokee Cut outs. BIG FLARES with the similar front fender & back door opening. And being cut outs the sheet metal could be modified to assist with the fit.
But they are $$$.

:)
Yeah, I am going to need something wider, because toy axles are about 6-7 inches wider overall, plus if I go to 37's.. then whew

Watch out for those Bushwacker cutout. You'll need to support the inside lip as well as the mounting on the outside. I had a set originally for a Ford Ranger (up to 90) for my XJ years ago. I cut away the sheetmetal and had to curl the rear sheetmetal back into the well to help close it shut. I had no support for the inside of the flare. Sticks would tear those things right off. I got wise a little, and added expand-a-foam to help strengthen the flares some. It worked for years, but any kind of shearing on the flare, it would come right off once again. To add, once you punch a large enough hole where you mount it, it becomes a little involved to remount.
Take a look at the TJ's/YJ's etc for those 6" wider flares to help. Didn't a Suzuki company here have those Gorilla flares for the Sami? Take a good beating (showing truck running over one) and still look decent.

Right now I'm running stock YJ flares. I think I got them at wrecking yards. I also have a set of the 6" extended flares. They were to wide for my current set up. They are for sale ;) They fit nice and looked good, but I would have ripped them off all corners on the first trail I did up here... you know all them damn trees. Both sets are easy to install. Just run some screws.

They fit on cut fenders?

Anything will fit on anything with the right amount of love ;D My flares fit great as did the 6" extened ones.

Hehe... My kinda lovin'... with saws and hammers ;D
Those might be something I might look into... my 13.50's with less backspaced wheels than I have currently (4" BS) will stick out a lot... like 6-8" on stocker stuff :o
-
Yeah with my 14.50s on 2" b/s wheels I'm 77" wide rubber to rubber. I don't get full coverage from the stock YJ flares but the 6"ers were to much. What a delema ??? Guess I'll have to go bigger and see what happens.

Stick some 'yota axles under there and you should fill out those 6" flares ;)

Aren't "Yota axles" a little weak. Just wondering if there are stronger alternitives out there. I mean if you going to take the time to swap out axle (s) shouldn't you want the strongest ones you can get? Easy Jake, I can't run Mog axles and still fit on the trails down here. Just a thought.

Narrowed D60's, man! That would be uber-cool 8)
BTW, yota's, from what I've heard, can handle 35-37's with upgraded shafts and birfs with lockers and all... and that's on a Toyota-sized vehicle... :-/

Light weight vehicle doesn't need the 600#'s front axle (D60) underneath it to survive. Check out Tri-County's Jeep which runs under a 4cyl engine, D30 up front (strengthen in comparison to D44) and D44 out back (strengthed in comparison to D60). http://www.tricountygear.com/specs.htm There was an article in a mag about what they did, thinking it was the JP mag. They run this vehicle in the rock challenges on 37's.
Their concept on axles would work out easily for you on your Tracker. Get the early non-wide track Jeep axles, upgrade in gears and lockers, and your set on the axles from breakage.
What Tri did was to machine the ARB to accept the larger side gear. This increased the axle diameter and thus the strength. For the front, they also used the stronger u-joints in the D44 sized axles. To add, with the smaller diffs, they have better ground clearance in comparison to those running D60s.

Depends on the 'yota'.
The standard pickup axles aren't any wider then what ya got, nor much stronger. (not much upgrade.)
Ya need to go to something like FJ80s . (full size land cruser type axle thingies meant for a 4500lb trucklet, just like ours!)
Bigger, wider, correct offset if you've got something like what we've got.
