Post by: john1974 on August 17, 2008, 09:44:29 AM
Who still makes them, and sells them? any links would be great.  I just need one 2 inch that threads onto the top.  one of mine is stripped and it wouldnt be a problem but I can find where I put it... lol

Boondox never seems to answer emails or phones anymore.  other options?

I can't help with the extensions, but I do make strut spacers now. I have 1.5" that fit the Trackicks.

A pair of 1.5" will run you $40 to the US or $45 to Canada. Send me your email address to: hoepkers|removethispart|@charter.net and I'll send pics.

BDS Suspension, they will sell them seperatly.

However, I never did like them, and think the type Jeff is now making are a much safer option.

I'm not trying to push my stuff, but, I am a machinist by trade and when you extend a shaft but threading one end and adding an extension it is not very strong. As much abuse and movement as the struts take I would really shy away from extensions. Just my 2 cents. I don't care if you buy the spacers from me or anyone else, they are as Uncivilized said, a safer option.

I agree.  There was a photo running around here somewhere of an extension that split vertically at the threads.  Scariest picture I've ever seen on here, frankly.

Edit:  Couldn't find the photo, but...

I've presumably got enough good years left in me to maybe hold out and spring the extra $500 or whatever for OME struts if I can't get the mount-spacer-style of extension to work.

Hey Jeff do you make your strut spacers out of metal or the same stuff as your coil spacers?

Same stuff as the coil spacers. I made some 2 years ago and ran them on mine to see if they would hold up. They are still fine. I then was too lazy to take it all apart to measure them again to make more and sell. Them someone on here sent me a pair to measure and the rest is history!!  8)

I have been running the strut extensions from Boondox for almost 2 years with no issues to report at all.
I think in some of the cases I have read about them breaking was due to improper install as well as some serious abuse from jumping rigs.
If you do decide on the strut extensions may I suggest you use red loc-tiite and torque them on according to spec for that size thread and diameter.
I used a torque wrench and tightened them up to 95ft/lbs and as said above... Still running them and no issues at all on my well beaten and abused 4dr.
