Post by: scooterszuk on August 17, 2008, 06:31:39 PM
Hey changed the starter on my samurai and saw some leaking differential oil at the tire on passenger side, my question, can you replace the felt seals with out buying a whole front axle rebuild kit, there is no poping or anything, it has been driven in mud alot. if you can buy just them, where can you buy a kit.

I'm with Ross.  But your axle seal is probably bad, so you will probably want to replace that as well.

I checked mine by pulling the felt seal then lift up the opposite side and see if you get alot of oil
they are easy to change if it is bad

Ya there should only be grease behind the felt seal, you will have to pull the axle to replace the oil seal.
