Title: shake in the front end
Post by: delriowil on August 23, 2008, 10:02:24 AM
I did a SPOA and now have a shake in the front end. I can not find what is doing it. I have had my tires rebalanced. but still shakes horrible even at slow speeds. any ideas of what is causing this. could it be the angle of the drive lines to the front axel making it do this.

Is everything tight,  you also might want to look |removethispart|@ the shackle & spring bushings in the front,
did you change the streering, could be bad tierods, or kingpin bearings

If you changed the pinion angle on the front differential, you created two problems:

1  A radical change to the caster angle that  will make the truck difficult to steer.

2. If the operating angle of the u-joints are not identical you will have vibrations.  This is caused by pointing the differential up at the transfer case on either driveshaft instead of trying to match the factory pinion angle.

For more info on the above, do a search for driveline at Ack's FAQ (the link is in my signature).  The bottom two links are what you need to check out.

Then there is the dreaded "out-of-phase" driveshaft!

If you do not properly assemble either driveshaft (assuming that you pulled them apart at some point) they will cause vibrations and, if not properly re-assembled, will destroy the U-joints.  check out the following links:

I hope that this helps!
