ive done a search an havnt found the answers or opinions im lookin for?
wut i have is a 94 2 door tracker(8valve) stock right now and a 95 16valve 4 door sidekick(standard).
first i just wanna no the opinions of ppl who put 33's with a 3 spd auto an how the power was? also from what i understand the auto should have 4.62 gears and the standard should have 5.13? so i was thinkin of swapping the gears. how would that affect my drving? it is my daily driver.
Thanks Trevor

Swaping gears depends on what you swap... higher numerically in the diff = bigger tires you can run. 33" tires are going to SUCK on a tracker. I have a 4-door on 29", and a 4-door on 35". The only reason I can run the 35" is 'cause of the automatic... but it SUCKS. Getting the Doubler from aftermarket4x4.com - he has a thread here about them. It slaps the samurai t-case behind the tracker case. So, you have a doubler, and the hi / low reduction from the sami - PERFECT for 33 - 35" tires in a kick. A lot of people I respect on this (and other) site have nothing but good things to say about his work. You can do your own, but it's a lot of precision work that's way beyond my fab skills.

i had 33's on my 90 with a stick and it was great on teh highway and around town, very hard ont he clutch on the rocks.

the gears i would be puttin in would be a higher number so it should be able to turn 33's a lil easier. i not worried about goin on rocks just mud an snow and deep ruts , i had 31's on my 4 door an it was a stick an it drove better then stock . an i put 29's on my 2 door auto an it seems like gettin 33 on wont be to bad?
also are the standard tranny's in a 4 door the same length as a 2 door auto?? if it possible i wouldnt mind changing everything over

I have a 89 8V auto on 33's with 5.13's. It is not bad around town but on the highway it is sluggish! It is gutless in the mud I have found. The t case reduction helps alot but it just doesn't have the torque required for the mud. In my opinion!

Yeah, the T-case gears are more for trails and rock crawling. The tires don't spin fast enough, even in 5th gear for serious mudding.

33" on stock gearing wouldn't fly where I live. But, supposed to be okay on flat ground. And - it totally depends on the type of mud you have there too... the engine may or may not have the power to fling the tires depending on how sticky it is.

If you have an automatic the gears are 4.62:1. You may swap them out for the 5.12:1 and you can run 31x10.50x15 as you would the stock 205/75R15's. If you replace the 4.62's with 5.83's you can turn those 33's comfortably because the tire diameter of the 205/75R15 is 27.15 inches. The estimated diameter of the 33's is 32.3 to 33.5 inches. Using a gear-to-tire diameter caculator the even swap gear size would be 5.49:1. The 5.83:1 would do great in your Tracker.

i have a 1990 8v 5sp will 31x10.50r15 work with my lift and some fender trimming

My tracker has the three speed trany I run factory 5:38's with 31x10.5x15, they work very well, though I must point out that I have heavily modified the engine. Love the auto trans for rocks, smooth power application.
