Title: DUAL TRANSMISSIONS
Post by: zukezilla on August 27, 2008, 07:38:00 PM
I have not found much on this.I found 1 post on a Toyota dual transmission . Has any of you tried  this with manual tran`s . Got a stock sammy with a bad T case . Got T90 (Jeep) with a D20 T case .  I have all the parts I need to do this,I think .I`m going to get the drive shaft cut and have some splines installed  in the shaft . I`m using the short drive shaft off the tranny as my adaptor for the T90 tranny. I`m going to install a bearing on this for support.Would like some input . THANKS

the problem I came up with is it's not going to give you any more reduction it's going to act like an overdrive

I was just going to mention that.  :)

The main issue you will run into is space and alignment.  If you can get your transmissions lined up perfectly you can skip putting the extra u-joint into between them and save yourself some space.  Then it's just a matter of making sure there is enough room to put it in and still have your drive shaft be able to reach your rear axle.

Correct me if I'm wrong:
5spd in front, 4spd in rear, 2 gears in tcase

40 forward gears, 18 reverse gears 8)

Put both transmissions in reverse, rig would still move forward! ;)

definite food for thought!

This is some of the parts I have to work with. We installed the clutch center .    We are going to cut the throw out bearing shaft and add the bearing to the pilot shaft using the throw shaft for support.  A bearing housing will be mounted to this.
