So i was thinking of taking my belt off the a/c compressor for the winter to gain more power, i think that if the belt does not run throught this pully then i might gain power i know ill need a new belt but does anyone have any idea if this will work

Your defrost wont work as well as it uses the a/c to dry the air in the cabin.

ppltrak is right, and your power gain in cutting out an idling pully will be negligible, a fraction of an horsepower; so little that you might actually gain more by not running your stereo..

You can get a box that turns off the a/c pump when you accelerate.

Where Might one find this magic "box?" I'm assuming it's some kind of throttle related switch?

I Checked out my AC this summer and it did not cool the air, so I removed all of it except the aux. cooling fan. All fittings were loose, so assume it wasn't working last winter either. I didn't have any problem then with defrost/defog. I haven't had any problem with defog since the change. I also removed the fan off the motor. I put a jumper across the condenser switch, so when ac is on the ac fan (in front of rad.) runs and now use the ac aux. fan to cool the radiator. Seems to work, haven't had off road since, or in real hot weather (which may not happen in western Wash.).

Uhhh....you sure about that? I know some vehicles do activate the AC when defrost is turned on....pretty sure trackicks are not one of them.

I was thinking it automatically did this via the ECM and various sensors. I know I was reading the other day about the AC compressor automatically kicking off when the pedal is past a certain point and other variables are met......I just can't remember where I was reading it.

I agree.
