Anybody know of a good safari rack for a 2nd gen vitara?
Im thinking of buying this one from Surco ( http://www.autoanything.com/roof-racks/60A1380A0A0A2542654.aspx
), but I would prefer getting a rack that replaces the stock roof bars instead of mounting onto them..
thanks fellas,
James

I don't know of any, but I have a question. Is there something wrong with the original bars? That is a good looking unit. My personal preference would be to use something like that that connected to the OEM bars. Replacing the bars leaves open the possibility of water leaks in the roof, both where the OEM bars attached and where the new ones attach. In my limited experience, factory equipment is often more reliable than aftermarket.

The only thing I didn't like with the original roof bars was that the bases are plastic.. I wanted to find a more solid safari rack to replace them but i cant and the Surco rack is a good price so I'm just going to go with it!
