Title: Is this block toast?
Post by: daddyizzle on August 31, 2008, 08:48:17 AM
Out of an 88.5 Samurai, miles unknown. Appears never rebuilt. #1 cylinder -piston locked up. Threw the rod I guess since the rod was broke in two. Looks like a hole into a coolant channel at the bottom of the cylinder wall. Is this repairable or just toss it?

In the second picture, It's the hole on the left side of the cylinder wall about the middle of the picture. You can also see some bang marks from the connector wall that are just cosmetic. The hole is the concern so I wanted to check here before I toss it unless it's worth something for the aluminum.

I wish everyone wasn't so paranoid about their location, I could use a new short block as well. I am in Hope Hull, Alabama.

Thanks for the replys. I don't really need it but thought I would pass it on to someone if it was usable. I was pretty sure it was toast but thought I would check. The crank also has a severe gauge where it spun the bearing. I think it's toast too.

If I were going to ship a block like this, I think they are pretty cheap fed-ex ground by the way.
