ok, ive got a question for you all...
got a hidden hitch class one flat bar trailer hitch sitting here waiting to go on my truck, got it from the wrecker off a bashed up tracker.
looking for the sizing of the bolts for mounting it and the difference between the flat bar hitch and 1 1/4 hitch mount.
both are class 1 hitches, but the flatbar is listed at only 100/1500lbs towing. the 1 1/4 is 200/2000lbs.
can i acually tow 2000lbs with the flatbar or do i have to get the 1 1/4 to tow 2000lbs.

I have the flat bar hidden hitch. You unbolt the round frame spacer bar on the back of the Tracker, and replace it with the hitch using the same bolts that held the round bar on.
In the US, the Tracker is only rated to tow 1000 lbs, according to the owner's manual. I don't know where they get them, but I have seen Trackers with 2 inch receivers on them , and I wonder what they tow. I pull a small camper with my Tracker that probably weighs about 1100 lbs fully loaded. It does fine on the flat, but struggles on the hills. I don't think I'd want to pull anything much heavier any great distance.
I have used it to move a 2000 lb trailer around the yard, but I won't go out on the road with it.

I would throw the original bolts in the trash. They are made of bubble gum. I bought 12.8 grade bolts to install my hitch. I know I'll never haul anything that will come close to breaking those bolts. Nothing worse (according to a friend of mine who's had it happen) than looking back and seeing your trailer departing the vehicle. :(

whats the mounting bolt size. all im getting from the install stuff on the internet is that they are 12x25.

ok... bit of a retarded question... on the flat bar hitch, how is the reciever held in... all the flat bars ive seen have no way to be held in on my hitch.

On the flat bar hitch you should have a spot for a single pin to hold the bar in. On the end of the bar you can either put a traditional trailer ball on or have it hook directly to your equipment.

Be careful though. The flat bar hitches are usually only Class 1. That has a tough weight of only 200 lbs and a pull weight maxing out at 2000. So if your taking a lot of bumps your likely to brake something, I would go with at least a Class II setup.

i would love to go with a class 2 hitch but they dont make one for the sidekick to my knowledge.

In my garage is a 2" receiver hitch that should bolt right on to that 90 kick. I got it off a newer vitara, but the sticker that was on it stated that it was for first-gen track/kicks. I couldn't pass up the deal on it when a friend's vit got totalled. My X-90 already has a 2" receiver hitch on it(thanks Zig ;)) so I really don't have a use for this one. You can have it for $75 if you're anywhere near southwestern PA(Connellsville, Greensburg, Latrobe, Donegal, etc) It has no bolts with it, but if you get 4 of those 12x25(which are metric sizes) in a grade 8(much stronger than original), it will bolt right on in place of the stock round tank-protector bar...

Just buy a new rear bumper. :P

Or you can just make one yourself. :)
