Title: Whipsaw trip report
Post by: derekj on September 08, 2008, 08:51:36 PM
Our club ran the Whipsaw trail this weekend. The Whipsaw was picked as one of BFG's top trails last year. The day started our early with breakfast in town and then off to the trail head.

We had 20 trucks show up for this trip so it made for a long day, but it was worth it. The trip started out with a few wrong turns but we figured it out after the 2nd wrong turn. The first half of the trail moved along pretty good with us arriving at the half way point for lunch around 1.30pm.

The second half of the trail has some of the more challenging parts of the trail, but nothing too hard. Only had to winch two trucks and tug one guy out of a mud hole.

I had a wheel fall off my truck much to my surprise! The nuts that hold the drum on to the axle fell off and away the wheel went. I was only going about 2 mph at the time so it didn't do too much damage. After a quick repair we were on our way again.

There was one bypass that ended up being harder that the main trail as this Land Rover found out!

All in all a long but good day and everyone made it out in one piece.

Good to see another Canadian from the board out there wheeling. I'm from Kelowna myself. A couple of us are going to hit whipsaw in mid Oct when there's some snow, should be a little more challenging. Won't be to many of us going trying to avoid a gong show. Are you up for round two?

I am going to be going to school in Oct and have already planned to go to Oregon for Powerfest. Can only afford one trip while not working so might have to try next year. Have fun - it was still really muddy and wet so October should be interesting.

Great looking trail ride.  Does it circle back on itself or spit out you in another area?

The ends of the trail are about a 45 minute drive apart - it is sort of a "u" shaped trail.
