Are these what I need? Or would others recommend another brand/style? I think I got the year/vehicle right (98 Crown Vic)...could someone verifty that? Here is a link to what Im looking at...

Thanks 8)

Those seem to be the ones

any 90's year crown vic will be fine. you will need some hardware to mount them as the lower bushings on the crown vics do not have the proper sleeve, might be able to pound it out of the old shock..
-
i encourage looking at the shock books at your local parts store. there are others with stock type mountings. i went with some for a mustang('85?) 'cause it had the ext./comp. range i was looking for, and i thought it would be softer.
considered ones for an econoline van, but thought they might be too stiff(like crown vic?).
-
If you have a welder you might want to look at re-mounting your rear shock points on the axle instead. That way you can lift them up and get them out from under the axle. I have been planning on doing that with my Tracker with the 1" lift as I have already bent one of the stock mounts on a rock. :)
-
i personally run the cheapo 95 mustang rear shocks out back. same lenght compressed as the crown vics and about an inch longer extended, with roughly 3inches of lift i don't think they are long enough yet... f-150 2wd rear shocks are said to work also, some guys say they mount no problem others say they require some mods to the shock mount... i will try these next.
-
i have the 98 crown vic shocks , an they seem to work pretty good with my 2" coil spacers , only thing is you need to make a sleve to slide in the bottom bushing
-
So I have been messing around with different shocks on the back of my Sidekick. I have the BDS 2" lift and added a 1" coil spacer. I have tried Monroe, BDS, Pro-comp, etc etc to try and find a better riding shock for the rear of the truck. Last month I got some KYB Gas-adjust's. Now the back rides way better than with any of the other shocks I have tried. My application was for a E250/350 rear shock. If you only have 2" of lift then the shocks for a E150 are 1" shorter. The shocks bolt right in as well.

Thanks everybody for the responses...i'll have to check and see if the bushings on the 95 Mustang will work better than the Crown Vic ones. I have read that sometimes certain shocks have a bigger valve body than others, and this is where us with Trackers/Kicks run into problems because of where the shockmount is located...the shock bodies end up rubbing on the axle tube itself...so I guess its a matter of trail and error lol.
I would look into relocating the shock mounts, but I would rather do as little as I can right now...being that eventually all this is gonna be replaced with yota drivetrain 8) Whatever cheaper shocks will fit/work with 2" spacers is what Im going to look at for right now.

Where did you order these KYB's and about how much were they? So If I only run 2" Spacers for now, I would need the ones for an E150 right?
-
You can order KYB's thru a Napa parts store or your local garage if they buy from Worldpac(wholesaler). The E150 ones will work for a 2" lift.

go to your local junkyard and get 2000-02 springs from a tracker/kick. 3 inches all around lift. If you would like I can snap some pictures of my rig to show before and after

just realized i dont have any recent pix of it, but i will be back home on monday so I will post some then. I cant believe more people dont use the newer springs, but I'll get some pics up asap, and hopefully save you guys a lot of money!! BTW you dont need to cut flip or buy anything else at all, springs go in fairly easily, and lift 3" I will post the pics asap.

If those springs lift a total of 3" around, you would have to lower the strut mount...heck you would probably even need longer OME struts unless you made 3" spacers wouldn't you?
I just dont see how just putting the springs in without any other mods will functionally work...
What about the front diff? Do the CV's bind up at all when at full drop or anything?
Also the rear...I've heard something about the upper rear link needing to be relocated or designed when lifted 3"+ because this will bind under flex...is this true?
Just trying to make sure what works and what you WILL need in order to work, other than just springs...this could be a nice upgrade if done right Im thinking

I have had 2 trackers with this same setup, this is #3.... the springs will lift it around 2-2.5 inches without getting a bit longer strut, they just dont compress as well. CV's dont bind up, and i daily drove and took my last one in the woods for over 2 years and just over 31k miles without having to replace a cv. also never run into any sort of problem with the upper rear link. Trying to get some pictures before monday when I get home, so I can save you guys some cash on lifts!! I love calmini parts, but hate spending lots of money!! haha
