hey guys so i got tired of driving around and my cluster not work. no lights no operation of gauges and its my third cluster. they work for a little then they slowly stop working
its possible its my wiring i trail and mud my samurai hard i go at least 4 times a week.
so i decided to make a custom cluster i have a scrap piece of carbon fiber sheet got it from my buddy's race shop. i cut out to size i have a 0-90ohm fuel gauge volt meter indicator lights for 4wd and brake but im not sure what speedo it talks about a square speedo cable. the samurai speedo is square but don't know if its the right square size.
i heard with the coolant temp u can take the original wires for the temp gauge and use that but that was from a google search
any help guys i would appreciate greatly
thank you
p.s. heres some pics have no recent ones she really dirty now yellow is when i bought it and then after a few mods and wiring and rattlecan paint

A custom cluster sounds like a great idea. I have toyed with it myself, but never to seriously as the only thing wrong with my cluster is the broken speedo cable. :)
A club member put an entire custom cluster setup in his FJ-40 that worked really well. For running your temp gauge you can should probably run new wires down to the sensor on the side of the block. Most after market temp gauges are designed to plug in, if you check the FSM you can probably even get the resistance range of the sensor in order to make sure it matches your new gauge.
For the Speedo, I would look at replacing the kit with a Universal Speedometer. Your buddy at the race shop will probably know about them. The FJ just presses a button, drives a mile, presses another button and it's calibrated. Great setup if your running non-stock tires and gears. If you want I can talk to him and get more info on the gauges for you.
