Title: 3.2 Litre V6

What is the story with the new 3.2 litre V6?
Is it a further development of the H series engine? Is it an all new motor for Suzuki or is it sourced from another manufacturer?

Hello, Just got back from the press launch for the Equator and the newly re-designed Grand Vitara. They have two new engine choices for '09. A 2.4 liter 4-cylinder 166HP that is a Suzuki design and a VVT 3.2l V6 with 230HP. Both engines are assembled in Japan.

Maybe ill test drive one and see if they will trade in for the old girl.

I wonder if it is the same bellhousing as the 3.6 litre V6 in the Holden Commodore ;D

Post by: zukisidekick on May 02, 2009, 09:23:43 AM: I test drove the US Spec'd Luxury model with the 3.2L, auto, and I have to say, I was impressed. From what I've heard, it's a bored/stroked version of the 2.7L. The most significant difference is that the engine has alot more low end torque than the 2.7/2.5 which tended to be flat until you hit 4000 rpm, then it would pull like crazy. The new engine has a much more consistent power band throughout the rpm range, which is considerably nicer.

I'm going to be purchasing the new 3.2L in a few months, but figured I'd report my test drive. On a side note, it also stops better than the previous disc/drum version.

Post by: nprecon on May 27, 2009, 08:49:32 AM: 2.4 Liter 4 cylinder makin 160+ horse power...? The Element and CRVs I owned each had the Honda 2.4 liter engine in them. What a great engine for a GV or a Tracker. Good power while retaining fuel economy. The Honda engines made great power in both of the vehicles I had. A HUGE leap above the 2 Liter they did use.

No, it is not related to the 2.7 in anyway. As mentioned it is a Suzuki variation of the GM V6. They signed a joint development deal some time back and Suzuki I think has a bigger capacity version of this up it sleeve still.
