Title: T/case double for Tracker/kick
Post by: mbmarkyb on September 20, 2004, 09:58:12 PM
Hello guys only me, man of many questions.

Has anyone got any information on the kick/tracker/uk vitara,  Transferbox double.

I hear its a 413 t case and it bolts up against the vitara transfer box with a nice adapter plate, any info would be great as im in need of as many forward gears as i can get with lots of options both high and low ranges

Come on out for a vacation, pick one up, and ship back with your return. You'll save money in shipping (probably costs more altogether), but your on vacation!!!

T/case double for Tracker/kick  what is that, is it t case out of a sammy for lower gears for high range so that you can run bigger tire ion a kick, and lower gears to be about to crawl better????? any help would be greatly appreciated. If you want tyou can explain the hole reason behind the double tcase. thanks pierre

A transfer case doubler modifies the existing case to be able to bolt a sammy or toy case to the back of it. It makes the stock case a reduction unit. The toy and sammy cases both have a 2.28:1 low range and the stock trackick case has a 1.8625:1 low, combined it makes 4.25:1. If used with the sammy case, you will have the gearing for 33-35" tires with stock diff gears.
Hope that helps.

Really, back up one second it's that for high range or just low range. Whats the max speed you can go on the freeway with 32 of 33??? Is that sent up to high of gearing for 31?? i have stock gears in my case and in my diffs. If that is possible that is sweet, and another thing how much does this sent up cost?? thanks pierre

This setup would give you 2 low ranges,
the stock one and a low low for crawling

I have a question for some one running one.  How far does the sammy case stick down?  It looks like a mile.  If anyone has a better pic to represent this or could explain, it would be great.  I would like to get rid of my body lift so lifting the motor and tranny would be a last resort.

hey hcgalvin, just looking at your pics in more detail, and noticed the shifter for the tracker case. that isn't the standard position is it? is it a custom setup that only selects between high & low range, and not 2h, 4h 4l etc.???

looking at the kicker 3 it talks about a adding a kick t case to a sammy,  kicker 4 talks about the adding a toyota t case to a kick.

Or is this a sammy with a kick  drive train,

Maybe i should mail them as i want to add a sammy case to my kick (uk vitara)

That is correct, only high and low. But I have every gear in the sammy case, and it acts like a normal 4x4 range should. If I want to go lower, I put the kick case into low only.

If I want to go compound low, I put both in low. Then my 4 to 1 Kick, just became 8 to 1.

I actually do the opposite when I wanna run in low. I use the sammi 4lo instead of the kick 4 lo.  reducing the gearing closer to the drive wheels will put less of a strain on all the parts before where the reduction is taking place.

the only thing I have to worry bout is the gearing in the pigs to suffer. shifting the kick into low, there's more of a chance that the sammi case and/or the diff will go

Which are you referring to, the one with the 2-part front DS or the one that lopped off the front output on the kick case?

oh yeah that's the shaeffer design, no I decided to lobb the front output on mine, I felt safer with a real driveshaft up in there

As would I. After school when I start on my kick project, hacking off the front output and sticking a sammy t-case behind my tracker is one of the things I wanna do... I'm waaaay to cheap to buy a kicker3 ;D

I'm still curious how far the sammy case would stick down when mounted in a trackick?

Any gearing option for the highway?  ??? I thought Toy's were like a Kick with a 1:1 High that you couldn't change. What have I missed?

The goal of chopping up tcases is being cheap... that solution sounds more expensive than a kicker3 :o

How are the TORA axles coming along?

definitely cheap, I figured it cost me under a hundred bucks Can. funds to get setup.

10 bucks in sawzallblades ( yes, i cut the front output off with a sawzall!)
10 bucks in aluminum plate

10 bucks in metal stapping and sq. tubing for the mounts

60 bucks to get it Tigged up

the rest was stuff I already had ( rubber bushings, nuts and bolts, mig welder etc.)

now that I think of it I did spend another 60 bucks on the 2"ID mechanical tube for the custom length front driveshaft, and a six pak of molson canadian to get the intermediate shaft welded. but still that's not too bad !

and I was able to use the front driveshaft to fit in the rear without modification, the sammi case sits about another 9 inches back from stock

here's closeup of my avatar pic, as you can see the sammi case doesn't sit too low(what you see sticking down is actually a bash guard  for the sammi case)

Man, I wish I could find a LWB Sammy down here... or even a Sammy :o

Where did you have it TIG'd shut at?
Title: Re: T/case double for Tracker/kick
Post by: szabotage on September 24, 2004, 12:00:39 PM
I got the case tigged at a buddies shop here in Ottawa Canada (Alcon Welding), No pics, but the beads were super clean and seems to hold the oil in w/o leakage so I'm happy. I did have to pre-cut the plates myself though.

I had the intermediate shaft tigged as well but at another buddies shop and it was cheap (6 pak of beer)since he was only learning how to TIG. I had him fabb up three of em and they turned out true and solid (at least the one I'm using in the truck at the moment) haven't had to replace/test out the other 2 yet, so that's a good sign!
