Title: blowing white smoke
Post by: brace on September 24, 2004, 02:40:20 AM
I just swapped my intake manifold and carb for a new set because it was runnng rough.   And now white smoke (burinng coolant is what my mechanic calls it) is coming out like crazy.  It's running great but smoke is pouring out.  Any suggestions?

Use a new intake gasket, and replace
it, also use some Permatex Copper Spray
gasket sealer, it looks like copper spray paint

Expensive, like $6 a can, but works well

Unless you have a problem with the new
manifold where there is a breech in the
coolant passage, then you need to swap parts

Yep, new intake manifold gasket would be my guess.

I forgot to put a bolt on my manifold once, and it blew white smoke when it got up to temp.

that can happen but from what my dad tells me ( a wrencher for life lol) it is mainly when the engine is hot.i can happen when its cold but *normally* common sense kicks in before u have cracked it
