Hi,
I wanted to check in as a new (to me) Tracker owner. I recently acquired a 98 2 door 4wd convertable for my wife to use as a station car. The car is completely stock and the only modification is a Putnam hitch I installed last week.
The only problem I have found is that the reverse lights do not stay lit. The tranny is an auto and when I shift from park to reverse, the reverse lights briefly light up and then go out. I know the bulbs are good, so is the problem in the shifter? Any help or advice you can offer is appreciated.
Cheers

Isn't there a switch for them on the shifter. I'd assume that's where the problem lies if they flash on for a moment and then turn off.

I would say the switch or the shifter are out of alignment causing the to NOT stay on when in reverse.
Auto's have a cable and the cable may need to be adjusted.

I have an Auto Trans too, and shifting
from P to R the lights don't light up, but
shifting from D to R they work, it must be
an adjustment, but I don't remember if it's
on the shifter, or a switch in the Trans
