Title: Rhino Lining/Line-X Rockers?

It seems pretty notorious for the rocker panels on these Track-Kicks to rust out over time...however mind are still very solid. My passenger side is just now starting to show some rust...but It is very minimal and I could sand it down to bare metal to fix this.

Now, the question I was wondering is if any of you have used some sort of a "truck bed liner" material on your rocker panels, over top the paint, for added protection? I have many plans for this little rig of mine down the road, including making or purchaseing some rock rails. I would just like the added protection against all the salt that we have here in the winter time (the "snow belt" sucks  :P)

If you guys have done this, could you put some pictures up of what all you have done? I plan on ordering a set of ZOR bumpers too and was thinking of doing the bumpers with this stuff too...think that would look good?

I painted my rocker panels, and the lower half of my doors with plasti-kote, which is just a rattle-can version of a bed-liner spray.  It worked out great, and definitely reccomend it.  Just be sure to sand down any areas with rust, if you can't get all of the rust removed, hit it with a rust-converter.  Then you just  need to scuff up the paint so the liner has something to adhere to.  Here's a pic of my tracker, crappy picture, but you can see how it would look.

That would probably work for keeping them rust free, but I would look at cutting the rockers out and replacing them.  :)

My brother has used a polyurethane bedliner called durabak (he actually painted his j**p's entire body in it) you just rough up the painting surface with some sandpaper,rub it down with some xylene, roll the liner on with the supplied rollers, wait half hour for it to dry, then coat again and your done, its about $120 a gallon and that would easily doublecoat your rock sliders and f&r bumpers . you can go on the website and order a color sample.  durabakcompany.com (http://durabakcompany.com)

This is Herculiner.  It ends up fading from being in the sun and looking flat, but this was after a fresh coat.  They make some kind of UV Top Coat to help protect it and bring back the finish, although I've never tried it.  A friend used another brand called Raptor that is all polyurethane instead of having little chunks of rubber like Herculiner.  I think if I was to do it again, I'd probably go that route.  It's sprayed on with an undercoating gun instead of being rolled on.  It just looked a little nicer.
