Title: Fried Alternator
Post by: TopHeavy96 on October 10, 2008, 09:29:02 AM
Anyone have any problems with the alternators on the 1.6 16 valve?  Had my tracker about a year and a half and I'm on my third.  Could it be all the puddles go flying through?  Or maybe my cb overloading the system? Any help would be apprieciated, I,m keeping the tracker on dry land till I find out whats smokin em'.

I've had problems with the Bosch alternator on my Spanish built Vit. The problem was dirty water getting in around the bushes. When it dried out it left a residue that caused the brushes to stick. A lightweight waterproof grease around the brushes helps.

By the looks of that photo in your sig, I'd say Rhinoman is def correct. If your gonna go swimming, dilectric grease is your friend! For that matter I'd waterproof everything under your hood.
