will automatic hubs from a 90 tracker work on a 1996 with manual hubs

its for my friend he has no money and his manuals on his 96 cracked

if your friend just needs locking hubs for occasional winter driving, then yes, they will fit.

They are not very good of offroading, though as they can disengage while maneuvering - backing up then driving forward is the way you "automatically" lock and unlock them. 

You can find instuctions for thir use in any Sidekick or Tracker operator's manual.

yes it does. he just wants them for the winter he doesn't take his offroad.  Now mine is all set up i just need to get new tires
