Will the later 88 and later sloppy shifter fix fit my new 84 model, I think it is a little different an SJ model or something, I just bought it last night for 600 bucks, it runs but the shifter is whacked, I am thinking the bolt is broke in it ? What other differences can I expect between this 84 model and the later models I have owned
Thanks

Is this an SJ410? or an SJ413? If its a 410 then almost all the running gear, engine and transmission is different. The 410 has an iron engine with an ally head and a sidedraught carb so its easy to tell the difference

I am pretty sure it has the side draught carb, its at my lot and I will get a look at it later this morning, if it is, do you know if the sloppy shifter fix will work on it ? Thanks

It is a SJ 410 good or bad? Know anywhere I can get parts? The slopply trans seems to be the only problem with it, I will need to give the carb a good cleaning

If it is a 4 speed it's an SJ-410. :)
They aren't bad rigs, I've certainly enjoyed mine. At this point though, I'm running Sammy axles and transfer case. Your a bit underpowered at 45hp compared to the 65 of an SJ-413.
Your transfer case is 10% lower then a stock Sammy transfer case. Top speed stock is 60 mph. Axles are 3" shorter in length, and your springs are 3" closer together then on a Samurai so any axle swaps will need the spring pads moved 1.5" in. Metal slotted front grill, much cooler then stock Sammy grill. Comes with 4.10 gears in the diffs instead of the 3.89s. Different sized diff, but you can order Lockrights for them. Smaller axles, same size knuckles and hubs though.
You can fix the shifter yourself, you just need to pull it off and replace the bolt that is broken. I know Hawk Suzuki makes the new shifter for the Samurai. If you want, you could probably just call them and have a used SJ-410 shifter sent to you.
Or if you wait until this weekend, I can check in the shop and see if my spare transmission has one on it. :P
