any suggestions on a engine swap kit. I have a 8v 1.6 going into my sammy. I already have a weber carb and a Thorley header on my 1.3 along with a rear locker, 3 inch spring lift, 5:1 transfer gears, custom built front bumper, 8K winch, and 29" swampers.
I have looked at Calmini, Petroworks, Rocky Road, and Trail Tough. I would like some feed back to make the right decision on which one to buy. I am looking for the most complete kit I can get. I do not want to go hunting for misc. parts nor do I want to shortcut anything. I need to make this swap as quickly as possible to avoid down time. And I plan on using my 1.3 head and intake after I have it rebuilt.

This sounds basically like what I did.
Avoiding any assumptions, You can pretty much buy any of the kits containing the transmission plate, the two engine mounts and call it done. I used the Calmini kit.
It has been a very long time since I did mine but I believe that you must use the 1.3 flywheel (bolts right up) and the 1.3 starter. The best thing to do is to keep the 1.6 starter handy in case you need to use it during the install. I don't think that the 1.6 flywheel will fit. I had a new one sitting for a long time after I did the swap and I 'think" that the reason was that it would not fit...
Oh and mount that Weber "backwards" with the choke side next to the head if you haven't already. That will help it run better on steep inclines.

Avoid the Calmini kit. You actually have to drill the bellhousing with that kit. The Trailtough kit is almost identical in many ways but has better thought out hardware. The Petroworks kit does lower and slightly offset the engine to allow for a little more clearance for the 16V swap but it is the most expensive kit out there.
And a side note... I've done many 8V swaps over the years. I was feeling lazy once and didn't want to deal with the electric fuel pump issue of the 1.6 head. I used the 1.3 head on the 1.6 block. It was the best low end grunt 1.6 8V I've ever had. The only thing special you need to do is use the 1.6 8V cam gear on the 1.3 head, the timing belt tooth profile is different.

never had to drill the 3 I built . just bolted right in

They must have changed the kit since the last time I installed one. It has been a few years since I used one of their kits.
