Title: Factory Service manuals
Post by: nprecon on October 21, 2008, 07:45:32 AM
I broke down and ordered an '02 Tracker service manual.  Well I got them in the mail the other day (three different books... about 6" thick total).  The manuals cover the Trackers with the 1.6, 2.0 and 2.5 engines (which I found odd because I didn't think the 1.6 engine was an option after 1999 here in USA).  There is another book which covers the transmission disassembly.  I didn't buy that one... yet.  I'm reading through them and I've noted there are alot of places where the info doesn't jive with another section (torque settings for example).  The pics are non existant in a few areas and sometimes they reference a proceedure on one engine but only show the pic of another engine.... ?    I've had some Haynes manuals for some of my my earlier Trackers/Suzukis, but they were only an inch thick, so I didn't expect the detail I was in these "factory service manuals".  Have any of you had the same experience with factory service manuals or are there "more better" publicatioons out there?
