The other bumper thread reminded me. I've been meaning to post a thread trying to find some info on rear bumper mounting. I've searched and didn't come up with any info on actually mounting one. I think I'm gonna just make a basic box tube bumper. Something like 2x6 or maybe double stacked 2x3 or 2x4. I'm kinda leary of using the stock bumper mounts though. Is there a way you guys tie them into the frame rails? I noticed the frame rails have a little wavy cap piece of metal on them. Is that something I should remove and make mounts from inside the frame rails, or what? Any info is greatly appreciated.

I think the Calmini rear bumper/tire carrier has brackets that bolt to the side of the frame to help support the extra weight. It'd be great if someone could post up a picture of what it looks like, I'm curious too :)

I made a bumper similar to what you are describing posted in the Build Diaries http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=21864.0 (http://www.zukiworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=21864.0).
I used new hardened bolts from NAPA, and they go in at an slight angle. I have dropped it on rocks and hasn't fallen off. If you want more info., just ask. I have been planning on adding a hitch, and will replace the lower cross tube with it. That will be welded into the frame, and attach to the bumper.
