I've got a 1600 8 Vavle coming to replace the mosquito fogging 1.3 in my 87. I'll be using my weber carb/1.3 manifold, electic fuel pump (already installed) & electic cooling fan. It is a complete engine with starter & alt.Is there any recommendations on adapters to mate1.6 to 1.3 trans.- pros & cons? Is a boby lift needed, or will a modified oil pan work? Any info on pan mods.? Exhaust mod.? Will installing a hotter cam give me much more ?Any info. will be greatlly appreciated to make this an easy install.

Running the weber carb no body lift is needed. In order to not do the oil pan mod you need a good 4 inches of lift (a spoa gives you plenty) I used the Calmini adapter as it came with modified motor mount brackets and it was a great price.. FREE ;D Exhaust mod...... yes! The 1.6 block is a bit taller than the 1.3 block.Like an idiot I had a custom exhaust done and a week later I swapped in the 1.6.Had to take it back and have the front of the exhaust extended 3 inches or so for it to fit.

Thanks, for the info, much appreceiated ! Anyone else care to jump in with their experiences or opinion on what would be the best way to go with aftermarket adapters or bolt on hop-ups?

The Trailtough adaptor has worked well for me, you might also try the Petroworks one, it has a better motor mount design. You need a minimum of a 3" suspension lift in order to clear the oil pan. I reccommend a spring over. There are many benefits and it makes the truck much easier to work on.

hey man i just did this swap. YOU'LL LOVE IT! you need to get an adapter to be able to bolt up the 1.6 with the old transmission. hope you got the ecu with it also ;) the stock header is a close fit. you won't need a lift if you mod the oil pan. you might have clearance issues with the hood (i did) and the t/b or in your case webbers. i had to cut out the cross braces under the hood so i could get rid of the vibes i was getting. i had to do some other things since i fabbed the old x90 exhaust to fit the zuk. i can't think of anything else but if you have any questions get a hold of me and i'll help you out. ;)
