Title: injector question
Post by: kubik1981 on October 29, 2008, 06:16:15 PM
i have my 1990 tracker 8v 5sp with a/c.  The question i have with no accessories running it is quite when i turn on my lights or like today when i turn on my heater it now makes a loud ticking sound. turn it all off it stops. i open my hood and and listen it is loudest at the throttle body.  Any ideas on what this noise could be.

Can you touch the t/b and tell where it is coming from? Maybe it's coming from the alt?

Its most probably the Idle Speed Controller (ISC) which will ramp up with electrical load. Check your ground connections.

if it has a bad ground will it make that noise. Because i know if turn something on and it makes that noise the engine does not kick up the rpm's

I don't believe that the idle speed should increase. The ISC is adding more air to increase power and maintain the idle speed. If it has a bad ground it could operate erratically causing it to be noisy. It may be shot.
