Title: Best Clutch for Trackers...
Post by: Z71Edge on October 31, 2008, 11:56:06 AM
I noticed last week that my clutch started feeling a little different...just in the way the pedal felt. This week, I noticed that for a split second before my clutch fully engages, it almost feels like it slips and then catches...mainly starting from a stop in 1st. So, I THINK my clutch is going...

My Tracker is used as my DD, alot of stop'n'go city driving. Yet I will be doing alot of weekend offroad trips with my buddy's as soon as I get the lift and tires on. I dont really need a real "grippy" racing style clutch, however I dont want a cheap garbage one from the auto parts store either. So Im not sure which one to go with... ???

So what is the best clutch that I can get for this thing? Petroworks? Centerline? Stock? I have read somewhere that its possible for a stock Grand Vitara clutch to fit and they are better because they are slightly larger than the stock tracker ones. Can anyone confirm that and tell me if that is the better route for me to go?

No it will not fit

I put a centerforce stage 1 clutch in mine a few months ago and have no complaints. Works a lot better than the stock clutch!

What would you guys prefer...the stage 1 or the stage 2 "Dual Friction"?

I guess the stage 1 is a 30% improvement in grip over stock...stage 2 is 90%...I would like the stage 2 but Im wondering if it will be to grippy  ???

I like my dual friction.  works great on and off road.

I went with the stage 1 clutch because, I'm running dual t-cases with with 5:38 gears. I was worried that when in double low, the dual friction clutch may grab to hard a and cause shock load, which ends up being broken parts. There is a very noticeable difference in holding power between the stage 1 and the stock clutch.

I am curious about that too. My 16V will be needing a clutch soon.
