the pin is actually a special bolt.  also probably need a shifter bushing
they call it the spagetti shifter fix

Hey there, common fault with the manual shifter is a spring below the retaining sup breaks and thats want gives you the excess travel, just remove the lever and youll see what i mean. the spring is tapered so you may have trouble finding a replacement - i ended up buying a new lever at around $80nzd

Give Hawk Suzuki a call, they used to sell rebuild shifters that replace the stock bolt/pin with a larger one and grind out the shifter to match.  We had to do the same on my brothers Sammy back in the day.

It looks like Low Range Off-Road sells just the bolt and a new shifter sheet for the transmission as well.  First item on the page.  Should fix your problem as well.

hey guys thanks for the help, i went back and looked at the shifter, bushing and springs; all of them are in great shape, but it is exactly what I thought it was.  THE BOLT (comes in from behind) that keeps shifter aligned is missing, i noticed it was gone when I took carpet and boot off.  the ? is does anyone know what size metric bolt that is (LENGTH, SIZE, PITCH)?  looking to get from auto value, scott from rock4fabrication must of been busy today, and that place you posted still has an answering message of they are catching up and it is october 8 (I don't think they are around, probaly out rock crawling, lucky).  THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR TIME, JOHN

You can't really use a bolt,as it is a special shouldered bolt. I found the cheapest one at Spidertrax.

i had the same problem with mine.  I replaced the bushings went to my local hardware and bought a 5 dollar spring cut it down to size and made it work.  Still works today and it has been done for about 8 months

You can get just the bolt from Low Range Off-Road for 20 bucks.  That's probably your best bet.

Or go to Spidertrax and pay only $1.55 for that bolt. And while your at it, order the thong from ZOR. Then you will never have to worry about the bushing either.

I have the same problem on my Tracker....Just not at the top of my list to fix....

Is the tracker/sidekick shifter the same setup as the sammy??? Does this "thong" kit I've seen b4 from ZOR work for a sidekick? Or is it a completely different problem/setup?

I'm not trying to hijack the thread, but I don't know if The "initial problem/post" is from a Sammy or a Kick....or if there is even a difference....

Looks like the tranny shifter sheet is different as the one for the kick is called the G-string. And looks way different than the Sami thong.
