Can't seem to get my backup lights to work.I have found the wire for the backup lights at the front kick plate area .I ran power to that wire and I can get them to light up. So I'm thinking that I have to go farther along the path as it's good until the kick panel. Is there something common that I should be looking for or where would I look. I wonder do they only work when the engine is running? I'm checking this by turning the key on with the tranny in reverse .That should be all I need isn't it or does it have to be running?
Thanks!

No need for it to be running indeed.
I believe the switch for the backup lights on the tranny is prone to go bad so I'd try to check that or change it out, I haven't had the problem myself yet so dunno where it is exactly just passing on what I've read several times on here ;)

At the very least you can unplug the switch at the transmission and hot wire it, and see if the light comes on. :D

I unplugged it at the tranny and had power there so I took the switch out and tested it, it was toast. So I got the heat gun out and melted out the plastic to get it apart and then figured out how it worked in there. And rebuilt it with part of a wire connector,a washer and a small body plug and my old stand by crazy glue and baking soda.Put it back in now I have backup lights!!
Thanks!

The glue gun I can understand, but baking soda?
On a semi-related note, I tend to build parts out of JB Weld instead of a glue gun. :P

I had the glue gun there but crazy glue and baking soda is so much easier to work with.If you build parts and pieces out of JB weld you should try the crazy glue and baking soda works way better in my opinoin and bonds better also. You can do anything from fine figurines to building up broken altenator ears.Just don't get the two together on anything you don't want stuck together or to yourself they bond instantly once they come in contact. It's fileable ,shapable and buildable to make whatever you want.
