No matter what angle it's pictured from, UGLY.
-
:) I think I saw that right behind the Calliope last time the circus came thru town.
-
Heh. I wonder what he designed it that way for...
-
All it needs is a beer keg strapped to it :P But seriously, what an ugly ride. I think the yellow makes it even more ugly. It is the kind of ugly only matched by the honda tuners and their spray painted interior panels .
-
It is ugly but to no surprize the thing I liked most about it was the color. :P
It looks purpose built and I wonder how it performed?
OMG I fear the comments I'll get if I ever get my planned ride built.
(classic beetle convert meets suzuki LWB running gear)

I would like the beetle on a LWB kick. 8)

thing looks like a zamboni had a baby with a zuki army tank haha

How does the wheelbase compare?
-
I wonder if it has a PTO attachment to run a brush hog on the back >:D
I only have one word for it: Agricultural... I keep looking for the caterpiller logo but can't find it..
but, hey, if it's locked up and runs well I would drive it like I stole it.
-
It looks like a yard tractor of some sort, but what the hey, I'd give it a spin off road. 8)

From what I have found so far a classic beetle has a wheelbase of right around 95" and a GV 1999+ is around 97" and 2 inches isnt going to make a significant difference on my project IMO.
I have to give the builder of that sidekick credit for the construction of that thing though even though I feel its ugly it appears to be very well built and thought out.
All I can invision is a convertible beetle with:
a complete roll cage
custom made 2 piece canvas top(I hate the stock VW rag tops)
baja bug fenders front & rear (need room for the big tires)
offroad lights mounted over windshield
HID headlights, HID fog lights, led running/brake lights
the 2.5L-V6, front & rear lockers and probably have to regear it for the tires
tires....atleast 33's
lift kit (not sure what will be available when its needed-4.5+?)
front/rear winches (more than likely 1 winch that can be quick mounted front/rear)
I'll try to stuff some leather power/heated seats in it also.
I want to keep the beetle body mostly intact and will only cut off enough of the rear engine area to make it fit but I want the VW engine bay for a storage space but it will all depend on how it looks and lines up once I get the major parts.
My plan is to use as much of the suzuki stuff as I can like the pw,pl,pm,cruise, tilt, auto,AC,gauges,(all electrical)
I want to paint it burnt amber but I dont think that comes without the basecoat/clearcoat system. :(

Its what you get when you mate a suzuki atv with a front loader (most likely a yanmar one)
