stupid auto hubs wont lock, cleaned them and lubed them, sometimes I can feel it almost lock.. maybe it'll free up. then I have to do the outer boot on the same side, is there a trick to taking the shaft out? mystery c clip? is there a way to take auto hubs apart, I want to see if anything is broken inside
-
If you are wheeling on auto hubs I recommend you toss them and put manuals on them ASAP! You are 100 times more likely to break your aluminum with autos versus manuals.
-
i know alot of people frown upon them, but for my outer boots i went to vato-zone (autozone) and bought the glue together ones, and the inners i used the ones with the lil bolt...after my lift my tracker ate my boots all up, and also SWITCH THEM HUBS!!! auto's are good as garbage...had the same issues as u with mine, so i threw 'em away and bought the 100 dollar mile markers from vato-zone as well...lifetime warranty too!!!

I wheeled for 3 years with auto hubs, I loved having them, never had to change it. sure they disengage sometime and make crunching noises, but once I figured it out it never gave me a problem.

so are all years interchangeable 89 to 98?

The difference in CVs is the passenger side from 89-95 because they are 22 spline where they go into the diff. The left side is the same from 89-98, ecvept for the Sport 4 door model.

took the shaft out, I beat the crap out of it with a 2 pound sledge for e few hours, do you think I could get it to separate? I ended up taking the inboard side apart just to put the boot on the outter side, all 7 degrees below freezing
did match the shafts up to an earlier one i had, there is a definate difference in thickness.
how would I know if mine is a sport model?
-
If it is a Tracker, it is not a Sport. Sport is a model of the Sidekick, made in Japan. The 1.6l Trackers and Sidekicks were made in Canada, from what I gather from this and other forums.
-
The 4 door Sidekick Sport was a 4 door that had extra body moldings and fender flares. They had a twin cam 1.8L engine and 16" wheels standard.

Hammer not needed.

I know, I've done many of them but not on trackers. usually the outer piece just slides off the shaft. mine didnt

Always concerned about the mistreatment of Suzuki parts (other than on the trail, that is ;) ), I remain:
