Title: Dropped the transmission...

Dropped the transmission out yesterday (1984 SJ410) and there was a wire going into a connector in top of the housing, I didn't disconnect and when the transmission came out the wire ripped out of the connector, what was this? ???

Probably the reverse light switch. You can verify by shifting into reverse and seeing if the switch connects the loop.
