I broke my aluminum front third member and decided to go ahead and upgrade to 5.13's and do away with the front air disconnect since I was having trouble. I thought I was buying a rear third out of a 1994 sidekick which I was led to believe would be a 12 bolt. i've got it and it is a 10 bolt should I be concerned about breaking it?
thanks

Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe a '94 10 bolt would be for a 22 spline axle. You'd need a 26 spline diff for the newer tracker/vitara which came on '96 and later models. You can count the splines inside the spider gears (where the axles slide in) on your 10 bolt diff to be sure. I think the spline count thing applies both front and rear.
Also, I don't know that a 10 bolt diff would slide over the 12 studs on your axle casings anyway - unless you're swaping the cases as well.

It's already in there so I know everything matches up. The 10 and 12 bolt zuki diffs refer to the number of bolts on the ring gear. I'm thinkin all sidekicks had 26 splines in the rear. I was led to believe that 93 and up would have a 12 bolt carrier. Its only 8 studs that hold the 3rd in place. I know it fits and works but I'm wondering about the strength.
Thanks

I've heard a rumor that all the carb models had the 10 bolt and all the EFI had the 12 bolt, dunno how true it is though.....
