Title: Soft top leaks?
Post by: Digger on September 11, 2004, 01:39:09 PM
How many of you have had a leaking soft top right at the rear seam over the rear bar? Mine would leak in there all over the back seat in the rain, but only when I was moving. When I was sitting still it wouldn't leak at all. I figured it was coming through the seam, but I hated the look of duct-taping it or siliconing it as I have seen other people try. At the auto-parts store today I found this stuff from Versa Chem called rubber sealer. It's designed or at least marketed to repair cracks in weather stripping. It is said to stay flexible when dry. It has the consistency of gear oil when wet. Really sticky gear oil...lol... but I was able to run a bead of this stuff right along the seam and it was thin enough to soak in and spread out a little bit before it dried(Dries in 1/2 hour according to label) and it looks like it should work great as long as it sticks! Anyone else have the same leak and if so, what have you done to fix it?

I had the same problem and I used a product called Storm King which is available at most RV places. Did mine 3 years ago and still is good and we get a LOT of rain here.
