Here's a thread seed for sharing the most interesting, unique, or crazy thing you've seen on the trail. In addition to rollovers, strange breakage, and trail carnage, what else have you seen? Abandoned items, stumbled upon government operations or buildings, natural phenomenon, UFO? Extremely beautiful scenery, or the exact opposite... What have you experienced while on a trail ride? Please include pictures if possible (that always helps to explain)...

An active missile silo outside Oak Ridge, TN. By the time the truck came to a stop we were asked to leave by some of our countries finest...
About 20 miles from there we were stalked by a fully armed Apache. Have one of those pop up about 200' away from you suddenly.. I almost crapped my pants. He was so close I could see the pilots smirk when he saw that he scared the crap out of me :o
Big Foot... but that was in Oregon.. I think Greg has pics

According to Google maps we were about 5 miles away from the Valley. We were wheeling around Oliver Springs when the Apache stalked us. I have some pics form Windrock Mountain where you can see the facility. I'll have to see if they are on my external or if they were lost when my Gateway Crashed.

I witnessed hot girl-on-girl action in the back of a Cherokee. They were parked at the trail-head on NY State forest land. We were running pirate there, and we saw the truck parked while coming up the hill to get out. Afraid it was the NYS DEC cops :police: ready to bust us, we parked out of sight and snook up to check in the dark. It wasn't the DEC for sure! >:D I watched the HOLE nekkid trist, at times less than 6 feet from the trucks windows, trying to figure out a way that I could get in on some of that :-*(I didn't). It was a highlight of my wheeling experiences.
Now, anyone gonna top that one?

Oh yea... LOTS of 'Crops', including one protected by people with automatic weapons... we 'decided' NOT to adventure in that area again.

Near the end of the TTCW 08 I lost almost all my brake pressure coming down the trail. Ends up the welds broke on my rear disk break caliper (we thought our fix the day before would hold). The end result was most of the brake fluid running out the back and a caliper hanging off the bottom of the rotor.
Of course this is at a check point, so we pull it apart with the judges there watching us. A quick look at the situations and we decide that we can't let a little thing like this stop us. So Derek, my co-pilot, grabs his vice grips and we proceed to pinch the line off then use zip ties and electrical tape to attach it to the axle tube. Bolt everything together and find out that we don't have any brake fluid, the one type of oil we don't have with us. A few minutes of scrounging around and we grab the thinest oil we can find and toss it in there. Pump the brakes and they work! So I still need to replace the power steering fluid in my brake lines...
I figure I had a spool in the back, I only needed one working brake caliper anyway. :D

After getting lost on purpose and bushwacking my way through some really narrow and little used trails I came upon two ostrich (emu's?) getting carnel in an outdoor enclosure. Strange for sure, but not that hot.

About 10 years ago me and some friends went night wheeling in the desert(baja syle) in southern AZ and came across what we thought was a cult. They had a big bon fire and wearing red pants with their shirts off. Make up all over their faces and were dancing around the fire screaming at each other. It scared the shat out of us and we took off like a banshee. Never new what they were doing and we were not going to stick around to find out.

This was one of the more unusual vehicles I have seen on the trails...

I have many pictures of scenery that I have taken over the last few years as I have explored our beautiful province. Trying to narrow it down to a few is pretty hard but here are some of my favorites.

awesome pics derekj
while wheeling around at Yellowcreek (wellsville ohio) some friends and I came up on 3 ADULTS packed in a canoe on the side of the trail screaming about how "the waters nice" haha and swinging cans of coors around..... Oh to be that drunk! haha at least they were being safe and using the canoe to get around rather than risking peoples lives flying around on the trails in 4x4's haha

Well dont have any wierd sitings from behind wheel of zuki rig yet but i have seen some weird stuff in other vehicles. A couple of years ago when me and my buddies were in school and quads were the rage, we used to ride up some power line trails here. To name a few things i seen up there, 73-87 chevy pickup with out much rust abandoned on its roof on a hill side, a jeep wagoneer, on the top of a cliff shot up and half torched, a lincoln lsc that i have no idea how it made it up there cause it was in one of the roughest spots up there, a geo metro on its lid in the same area, and ez go golf cart with an xr 200 honda motor abandoned. Ive seen more abandoned vehicles in odd ball places up here than i can count. On the same trails up there, we seen all kinds of weird little campsites, some looked like little satanic ritual sites, no joke there ,we always heard bout crazy stuff like that goin on up there too. but i suppose one of the best ones wasnt on a trail it was scouting for trails. we packed into a buddies ramcharger, went out searchin and we came up to a dirt road, went down it, till we came up on house and the end of the actual road (it did turn into a good lookin trail), where we were greeted by a knoose hangin from a tree and some dude is front yard yeelin his head of at us to hi tail it or he was gonna be usin it.

Yeah the woods can be a scary place, some friends and I were going down a road/trail when I lived on the west side of Washington and came upon a group of trailers and some not nice people, We have no idea how they got them back there with the Three foot deep mudd holes and nice size ruts, I don't think it was even there land
And then there's the time were camping in north Idaho a few years back, Now I won't go camping in the woods without a gun and not because of animals
-
Yup there is some crazy stuff out there...last year me and my buddies went up by Vernonia, Oregon it was the first snow of the year and we came upon these 2 huge ford trucks blocking off this road and they had some kind of machine guns dude i about shit myself so we turned around and gave her hell...ive always wonderd what they were doing
-
It's really like that down there eh, needing to bring a gun to go camping in the woods and not because of the animals? I wouldn't ever dream of thinking that way up here, must put you in some kind of paranoid headspace?
-
;) Man, you guys make the northwest sound so inviting! I'll stick to the southwest for my future adventures, but I guess scarey mountain folk are probably everywhere.
-
Stopped to take some poser shots and saw this tractor tire stuck around a tree. I couldn't find any cuts in the tire and the tree's pretty big, so it's been there a while! That's weird and interesting right?

I ran into this on a trail once, scared the crap out of me.

I seen a Jeep ONCE that was not broke down or stuck. I couldn't believe my eyes ???
It was late one night, and we were doing some night wheeling when we seen this

Ok so it was not that crazy, but there where literally hundreds of sheep all over the trail. We were hopeing that it would attract some bears or mtn lions. NO such luck. A little strange though.

OK, here is the scene. You've been riding for hours on trails that only a fairly well equipped 4x4 can tackle. You about 2/3's the way through an awesome day of wheeling, and still have miles of trail to go before you even see gravel. What do you hear over the radio ??? Let's show them 'The Church'. After wheeling through and past obstacles like 'Roll Over, 1410, Sherman Williams (somebody got happy with paint while marking the trail ;) ) and many others, your mind starts to wonder: " Why would you name an obstacles 'The Church'. OMG it's got to be insane crazy, like a come to Jesus kind of thing....
NOPE>>>>>>
It's really a Church :o Only accessable by 4x4, miles away form the closest road, and many more miles from the closest pavement. Now this is my kind of church. Meets once a month, only power is form a generator brought in by it's members and is truly in Gods Country.

A church in the middle of no where, preached by a guy named "Cotton" and a guy named "Mutt" !!!
That's scarier then the guys in the big ford with big guns.
-
was there Banjo music in the back ground????
-
its called a tennessee LOVE SONG
-
was there Banjo music in the back ground????
Only when Church is meeting ;) . The locals told me that a lot of the members bring their insturment of choice, guitars, fiddles, banjo's, etc... for music during and after the service..... while others bring grills and food and they make a day of it. Picking some tunes, singing and eating all afternoon, ahhhhhh to be back in Tennessee (you can bet your ass I'll be there for service this summer 8)

From Liberty a few years back: "Jeep, it's what's for dinner!"

The weirdest part is when the wiring melted, and those lights started turning on!

Oh man, that sucks. 'tis why I have TWO fire extinguishers. $40 is cheap insurance.
