Ok my odometer works but my speedometer doesn't could this still be the speedometer cable?
-
nope. they are driven by the same cable.
Most likely you need a new speedometer unit. I haven't had the opportunity to take one apart yet so I don't know if the speedometer mechanism can be replaces separately from the odometer mechanism...
Anyone out there know about this?
-
I took my unit apart and not that I can see there is no way to get the speedo part out with out screwing up your odometer as well. They are connected, and have tons of small parts in them.
Also is the speedo pin supposed to be connected from front to back mine is in two pieces.
Now I thought ah there's the issue but I don't know for sure since mine is the only one I've seen.
Now you can replace just that part of the gauge cluster. So if you have a shorted out cluster set with a working speedo unit. I would be willing to pay for it and for shipping as long as it was not outrageously expensive.
-
Yea, that little pin likes to break. I'll send you the number of a guy in Puyallup that has a couple of clusters for sale. :)
-
If it's randy i already bought one from him.
if not let me know.
-
Yea, it's Randy. I was picking up some parts from him for a friend a few weeks ago and he had a good cluster.
-
Ok does anyone know if the speedometer from any other geo or suzuki vehicles are the same as the 96 tracker. I'm not talking about the entire cluster I'm just talking about the speedometer assembly.
-
The back half of the assembly is the same as the pre-96 Trackers. It's almost exactly the same as the SJ as well. Not sure if it matches the street cars though...
-
What are you worried about, you don't drive that fast

Look on ebay. It is pretty good for stuff like that. I have disassembled lots of speedometers and tachs, and they for the most part are built the same. Most Japanese cars (like toyota and honda) have gauges made by Yazaki Meter (including the volvo 940/960), Most european cars have VDO gauges, (like VW, Volvo, Mercedes Benz, and BMW). I just thought I would contribute my $0.02.
