Title: SMELLS!!!
Post by: Roguevalleyblue on December 17, 2008, 05:27:22 PM
 ???

Well, kids, my lack of long term experience with 4x4's is showing.  After the replacement of the front half shafts (which seems to work very well), I went ahead and put synthetic GL5 in the pumpkins and GL4 in the tx case.  (Could not find Mobil One without much gas consumption).  And R&R'd with backflush all the coolant (good to -55 F.)

So, with all this new grease and lube and such, should I expect to get the smell of things getting hot?  No leaks, no performance issues, just smells.  Not interior, so cabin air s ok.

Thanks,

Pat

PS:  Wife rented Kia last week and liked it (Sephia) for a puddle jumper.  I may finally get to do some more serious mods to the trucklet.  It is currently our DD, and is wife's car.  My 1985 B250 conversion Dodge doorstop will have its top end rebuilt next year.  IS it legal for us to have 3 vehicles that run at the same time?  grin

I've got 8, but I'm a rebel.

As for the smells, did you spooge it on the diffs or case when installed?  Otherwise, it shouldn't emit the stinkies.
