Title: dent in frame on 96 sidekick
Post by: spinixguy on December 24, 2008, 04:36:22 PM
I went to get my car inspected and the tech drove it into the pit. No one was guiding her in and she had the passenger tire too far over. When the she gave it gas to get over the little lip, the passenger wheel went right in the hole and the car bottomed out on the frame right next to the body mount bracket. There is a steel lip around the pit that sticks up about a half inch. The frame smacked down on this and caused a bend on one side. It is kind of like a crease, but only on the bottom. Part of the outer frame side sticks out a little bit now too. It is kind of hard to explain. Anyway, how big of a deal is this. The sidekick seems to drive normally and the guys at the shop told me to have it looked over and get back to them on Friday. I do not see anything else wrong with it other than my passenger hub being all scratched up.

Take it to a body shop and have them do a lser alignment check on the frame.  If it more then a little out of allignment then you could have uneven tire wear for the rest of the life of the vehical.  Oo it could be hunkey dorey but I would get it checked while you have someone responsibile to pay for it.

I would be on the safe side and take it to a frame shop. Just in case!

ditto, have it looked at by a body shop not just a shop with a wheel alignment rack just to be safe
