Suzuki to recall vehicles
Reuters / September 02, 2004
DETROIT -- Suzuki Motor Corp. is recalling more than 172,000 Grand Vitara SUVs because of a fuel pressure problem that can trigger fires, U.S. federal safety regulators said on Thursday.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the 172,093 SUVs affected were from the 1999-2004 model years.
Dealers will replace the fuel pressure regulator on the vehicles, as well as a fuel delivery hose and a hose clamp, NHTSA said.

kimball and i were just talking about how funny it was that the GV had a clamp on connection to the fuel filter :o the first thing i asked him was "wont that just blow off under pressure"
sigh guess ill take my moms car in
-
Is it just me or has Suzuki cut some corners with these new trucks? It's seems the Sidekick is of better build quality? ???
I don't know, this is just the impression I'm getting.
-
Shouldn't this affect Trackers also?
-
I'm gonna take mine in and see if they'll warranty it? It's still the same motor >:(
-
i dont think its that the build quality is any less i have both a 91 and an 01 at my disposal i just think there are more gadgets and gizmos to go wrong with the newer ones
suzuki acctually doesnt have all THAT many problems if u compare there list to the list of other companys lol
the fit and finish on my moms 01 GV is acctually quite good it has also taken a beating..not as severe as the hooptie (my 91) but it has seen its bumps and scrapes..still runs like a champ i cant wait till my mom wants to sell it so i can just buy it and swap out the interior/drivetrain =)!!!!!!!!
-
Yeah, I wonder if they will cover the v6 swaps under the recall. As I am in the midst of doing that very swap into my lwb sammy! ;D ;D Man, let me tell you, putting the Suzuki v6 into a sammy is a royal pain in the a$$!!

I was hoping that it'd be a recall on Sidekicks for their shitty rust-proofing, and would provide me with a nice, new convertable body :(

Sorry I don't post very much but this is to much
Just take a look at all you put you sidekick through and think about the few problems it gives and just try and not call it trusty.
Ive been beating the hell out of mine for the last 5 years and the only a few minor thing have given out.

Bah, it sat in the garage for a year and a half out of two years. Breaking CV shafts and blowing boots all the time ON ROAD DRIVING is what pisses me off about it... fucking weak aluminum diffhousing that I had to jerry-rig to work right ;D
