Title: Injector Test
Post by: SafetyGuy on January 01, 2009, 02:17:21 PM
My 1991 1.3L EFI has died. It will run if I pour fuel in the intake and then die when the fuel is gone. I am trying to determine whether it is the ECU, Injector, or the fuel pump. I have checked the fuel pressure and it is fine. How do I test the injector to see if it is good or not?

I'm not sure on the 1.3 with the throttle body, but with the Multi-Port Injectors you can hit them with 12v and you should hear a click when it opens.

Run a test light between the 2 wires that go to the inj. if it blinks when you crank the motor the ecu is prob. ok.

There is a copy of the Samurai 1990-1992 FSM Supplement at Ack's FAQ that deals with TBI troubleshooting.

Do a search for fsm.  The link is in my signature.

Don't put 12V directly to the injector you will burn it out. Its is a low impedance injector, unlike the 16V injectors. It does sound like its most probably an ECU problem but check the continuity of the wiring back to the ECU.
