Title: Geo metro valve cover?
Post by: cstello on February 02, 2009, 05:37:46 PM
I have a 86 suzuki samurai. I have seen a couple things that say a geo metro aluminum valve cover will fit my samurai and fix the oil leak. Is this true? What year Geo metro??

Doing that will only take care of a small part of the oil leak issue. The main place for the leak is the distributor adaptor housing where it attaches to the head.

any Metro equipped with a 1.3 L G13 engine will fit on your 1.3L G13 Samurai engine.

I don't know what year they were - only that they exist.

You can usually find them at salvage yards.  Just realize that, if the metro has a 1.0 three-cylinder engine, you won't find the valve cover that you are looking for on it.

1.3 engiens mostly leak from the distributor O-ring (as another poster pointed out) or from the front crank bearing seal.

I understand all the other oil leak issues. I did them first and while I was at it I replaced the valve cover gasket. Now I can get the valve cover to seal and quit leaking.

Those valve covers leak less tho, prolly cuz of the better quality, reusable rubba gasket! 8)
