I've never ran them.  I seem to remember a few people talking about them, your really not supposed to air them down.  For normal road driving they are supposed to hold together without issue.

Thanks for the input guys. Treadwrite has some good looking tires . There is also A company called Stone Tires on the net check em out at stonetires.com. Smaller selection. they offer the same tire that RazBarlow posted at the same price  $61.+change they also have a tire called Ugly Dogs that remind me of Formula Desert dogs they've got that retro look. Sense I first posted this thread I have done some research on google and have found out School Buses run retreads and so do Airlines, and most Race Cars. Also there is a misconception that all the tire chunks and gators you see on the side of the Interstate are from retreads de treading. When In fact it is from under inflated tires both factory originals and retread. Proper air pressure on the highway is necessary on either.I've made up my mind to buy retreads. If I ever go all out crawler where I would need to air down low then I would buy tires I could air down along with bead lockers. right now I simply cant afford new name brands with bead lockers.. :)

Or try searching  ::) The search feature on this web site sucks. You can, however, use google. Type in "[search criteria here] site:zukiworld.com". This will search the forums, and all the zukiworld articles / reviews.

Here's the breakdown:
Don't get re-treads if you ever air-down on the trail, and if you're not the type of person that checks their tire pressure with EACH AND EVERY GAS FILL. Tire temps go up 2-5x higher if the tire's not properly inflated, and the adhesive the re-treader use can't handle those temps & de-laminate causing catastrophic failure. They seem to survive just fine for those people that are uber-anal-retentive about tire pressure, and fail with an alarming rate for people that don't check their pressure regularly.

I've read very bad things about treadwrite's after-the-sale customer service. Since I've emailed them 3 different times over the years (hoping things have changed  ??? ) asking different questions about their products (and especially regarding return policy should the tires de-laminate), and not a single time received a response... I've formed my opinion on their level of customer service. It's too bad - i'd really love to run some of their (stock sized) re-treads for DD use, and save my M/T tires for the trail.

been running treadwrights on my DD subaru for over a year, zero problems what so ever.... checked my tire pressure about every 3 months....25,455 miles and counting still in good shape. Also run a set of m/t's made by them, have aired them down to 17-18psi probably 100-150 times no problems, I can however see that if aired down, and you scraped a rock with the sidewall where it meets the cap it could start to cause problems, although mine have been terrific. I also just called about a set of m/t's for my friend, after no reply via email, they now have a strong recommendation that you call with questions due to large numbers of inquiries. Guess they could go either way

Have a look at stonetire.com.  I don't want to sound like I am plugging them. It's just that for those that are dissatisfied with treadwrite for what ever reason it is an alternative source! I myself have never bought tires from either company. They say they have been around since 1960 I wish someone on here has had some dealings with them! I've herd good and bad things about Treadwrite. I just want to know that if I have a problem that I won't have to go through 9 yards of BS to to get a replacement. one warranty I read I don't recall which Co it was stated it would void the warranty if there were signs of OFF ROAD ABUSE if you buy off road tires and use them as advertised what would be construed as off road abuse? Rock scuffs on the sidewall? mud?

I have spoken with stone tire a couple of times. One thing I did ask was about was if I could request that all 4 carcasses were the same on all 4 tires . They did tell me they could not guarantee that  . This statement did discourage me as I would like all four to be the same.
Does anyone know if this is par for retreads or can you state this when buying from Treadwright ?
Thanks,
Raz
