Title: Transmission interchange ?
Post by: RazBarlow on February 11, 2009, 06:13:30 AM
Will a 5 speed transmission out of a 1990 tracker fit right into a 1994 5 speed tracker without any modifications ?
Thanks,
Raz

It should.  I believe there is an extra brace if it's going from the 16v to and 8v, but it can be ignored.

Yes.  The 94 tranny may not have the switch on it for the EGR (on the upper left side of the tranny), but otherwise they are the same.

I am going to get the tranny tomorrow. The guy said it changed gears fine and the 4X4 worked . He wants $40 for it . I figure it is worth that isn't it ?
It will need a new clutch, where is a good place to get a good inexpensive clutch ?
I am laidoff right now so $ is kinda tight.
Thanks,
Raz

I use clutches from the auto parts stores......usually about $130.  Some people will say they are crap, but I have had no issues with them.
