Have you guys seen the inside mounting, roof rack like thing that Petro has? I saw it on offroad.com , heres a link
http://www.off-road.com/suzuki/project/suzushirack.htm
I started making a roof rack ( with better mounting points than the ones available i might add) but i saw this and i think its the best thing since sliced bread. I going to make one on monday out of 3/4 X 3/4 X .060 carbon steel. I'll get pics up ASAP after because i dont think you guys have seen the War Beast yet. . .

i have seen the same idea use on early broncos. i don't really see why any one would want one. well on second thought it is kinda like a second storage level. i dunno, mixed opinions.

What! You can get bread in slices now???
-
people want one because now u can have ur camping crap sitting on the floor boards and ur cooler on the rack
dont know about u buy my tent is as wide as the back of the tracker...so it would take up quite a bit of room
this also makes it so u can get stuff out of the "bottom" of the back w.o having to shovel a ton of crap from on top of it
a plus idea

It should be pertty cool, and the steel cost me 15.50 for 40 feet and i can do all welding, cutting, painting, etc. for free so if it sucks ill just unbolt it and send it to one of you guys. ;)
-
I've seen those sold for Jeeps before. Someday I'll make one for the kickup so that I can set stuff on the duster cover :)

Looks cool, can't wait to see it when your done, I'd like to make one too.

Hey try this Idea. I did this so that I can still run with my rear seats. The rack fiolds down into the samurai behind the seat when not in use and the top closes around it with no problem. Just and Idea. I can fit all the gear I need on it for 3 people for a 3 day trip. Probably get more if I tried but have not needed to. I take my boys when I go.

Do you have a better pic? up close and a couple of it folded away? Also what about your rear window? Is it still useable?
-
I will post some better pics. Gotta brake out the cam and then get them uploaded.
I will take them ith top on and offthe rear window does close down and snap to the rear door but the zipper will not work with the rack being used.

Ok here are some close ups of the rack.
