Title: Head
Post by: olefafl on February 16, 2009, 07:15:45 PM
Will a 1.3 Samurai head fit a 1.6 Tracker?
I have a exh valve leaking on a 1.6 and someone local has a 1.3 head.
I don't know whats wrong with the valve yet, but wanted to see if they will work so I can have it here if I tear it apart.

Heh.  :)

Is this for an 8 valve to an 8 valve?

It should work, there are a few changes that need to be made that I can't think of at the moment.  But they should physically match up.

Or if you want I have a supposedly good 8 valve 1.6L head I'll sell you for cheap.  :D

Yes, a 1.3 head will work on a 1.6 block.

I have one on my 1.6 with a Weber 32/36.

Depending on the head, you'll have to deal with fuel pump problems - early mechanical vs FI electrical.

Thanks, will I lose a little power because the ports are smaller on the 1.3?

I don't really know. I went from a 1.3 to a 1.6 8-valve.  Here is where I got the engine:

It was a BIG improvement over the 1.3...

I think that the exhaust valves are a little smaller too. The inlet manifold won't be very well matched either although you could open up the 1.3 ports a little. The 1.3 cam is a little softer too so you may also have problems with the mapping on the ECU. You may be able to use the 1.6 cam I've never been able to get a definitive answer on that one.

I think I'll skip the 1.3 head.  I may just pull it and see what the trouble is, then deside what I will do.

Anybody want to by a 92 Tracker 4x2 auto?  :D
Has about 40lbs on cly 2, its going out the exh valve, others are 160lbs.
