Is the auto trans on the 1999- 2004 Chev tracker ok or should I stay with the manual?

I'm running one from an XL-7, having replaced my manual, and I don't mind it one bit.  Wish it shifted a little more firmly at WOT, but smooth is nice, too.

I also have an auto tranny with 160000 kms on it just replaced the fluid 2 weeks ago...it was JUST starting to turn redishbrown....so yeah the auto tranny and the manual are both great transmissions .... I prefer automatic since i let ppl in the family use my vehicle as well.....

ONe thing I felt was bad about the Transmissions wether it be manual or Automatic is they take a very SPECIAL mixture of tranny fluid which is costly if you decide to change it(which you should every 80000kms)...on the brighter side that mixture is a synthetic oil which probably helps significantly increase the life of the tranny

What do you mean by special mix? I have been using Castrol Import multi-vehicle ATF....is that not good???

THe mixture is a synthetic mixture I believe...using other transmissiion fluid other then the recommended could lead to damage........or nothing at all could happen I dont really know.....

could be just some scam to get you to pay more.......or maybe I was tricked :S.......but I have heard of some vehicles needing additives added to certain fluids
